APS 16 -3 DAYS-LAKE MANYARA-NGORONGORO-TARANGIRE
DAY 1: Board shuttle bus at 08:00 hrs to the border town of Namanga where you will clear customs and immigration formalities. Proceed into Tanzania to Arusha town. On arrival you will be dropped at your hotel for overnight.
DAY 2: LAKE MANYARA.
Depart from Arusha at 09:30hrs for Lake Manyara arriving in good time for lunch. After Lunch explore Lake Manyara National Park which covers an area of only 318 sq km its terrain is so diverse that its mammal and bird lists are most impressive. The park includes much of Lake Manyara, some 60 km (38 miles) long as well as the Rift Valley escarpment. The park is well known for its tree climbing lions which can be found lazing on branches of the acacia trees. In addition there are good numbers of elephants, big herd of buffalo and plenty of leopard. The lake is a favorite place for pink flamingos and wading birds in general. This area is home to the Masai people whom you will see as you pass through the villages. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.
DAY 3: NGORONGORO
After early breakfast, depart for Ngorongoro crater with game drive enroute; where you descend 2000ft for a fascinating game drive on the crater floor. In a landscape reminiscent of the volcanic upheavals of the Rift Valley, the world's largest unbroken, un flooded volcanic caldera (collapsed cone of a volcano) covers 300 sq km In this restricted space, exceptional climatic conditions have favoured an explosion of animal life. Some 20,000 great mammals are permanently in residence, as there are permanent water springs here there is no need to migrate. Picnic lunch will be served. Enjoy game viewing at the crater until late in the afternoon when you ascend back to the camp/lodge for dinner and overnight.
DAY 4: TARANGIRE
After breakfast depart Ngorongoro for a half-day game drive in the Tarangire National Park. Many of the animals congregate around the only source of permanent water in the park, the Tarangire River. This is the best place in Tanzania to see really big herds of elephants of up to 300 at a time on safari.
After lunch drive back to Arusha. On your arrival you will be dropped at your hotel for overnight. |
